The Providence Journal (R.I.) reports that U.S. Representatives Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) joined the U.S. Coast Guard yesterday for a tour of the planned LNG vessel route for the Weaver’s Cove terminal in Fall River. After the tour, Rep. Cummings said, “When I rode the route, I’ll tell you, I think it would be quite disruptive, and that’s not even to speak of the safety issues, the security issues.” His comments follow the release of a preliminary report by the U.S. Coast Guard suggesting that the vessel transit route may not be suitable for the size and frequency of LNG vessel traffic proposed by Weaver’s Cove.
