Questions Over Maine BEP’s Jurisdiction Arise as Downeast LNG Hearings Loom
In preparation for upcoming hearings on Downeast LNG’s proposed regasification terminal, Maine’s Board of Environmental Protection voted 4-2 yesterday to disallow pre-filed testimony from Canadian fishermen who only fish in Canadian waters. The BEP chairman said such testimony would be outside the Board’s jurisdiction. The BEP also continued to work with state attorneys to sort out which issues would fall under federal rather than state jurisdiction. Read more in the Bangor Daily News.
