Impact on Marine Life from TORP’s LNG Project Still Under Debate
Covering the recently-released Draft Environmental Impact Statement for TORP’s Bienville proposal 63 miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, Press-Register (Mobile, Alabama) reports that the use of seawater in regasifying LNG could negatively impact local fish stocks. TORP company officials believe that their terminal would have little impact on the environment and that their technology is an improvement on a proposal that was withdrawn by ConocoPhillips after raising similar concerns.
