LNG Terminal Proposed for Offshore Florida
MARAD issued a Notice of Application yesterday formally announcing Hoegh LNG LLC’s application to build an LNG receiving terminal, named Port Dolphin, off Florida’s Gulf coast. The Tampa Tribune reports that the project would be located over 20 miles from Tampa Bay and would employ a floating buoy system and transmit gas via pipeline to existing gas infrastructure near Port Manatee, Fla. Hoegh LNG hopes to begin construction in 2010 and to receive its first gas cargos the following year. The Notice of Application is available through DOT’s Docket Management System in Docket No. 28532 or in Monday’s edition of the Federal Register.
