Economic Study Offers Potential Benefits for Oregon Communities
A study performed by an economist at the University of Oregon predicts that an LNG terminal located in the Pacific Northwest would support 5,100-20,300 additional jobs and increase household income by as much as $214 million. The Daily Astorian reports that critics of the report contend that the study offers an overly optimistic economic forecast and is biased in favor of the study’s backer, Bradwood Landing LNG terminal developer NorthernStar Natural Gas Co. These critics have asked Clatsop County, Oregon, to conduct its own investigation of the economic impact of an LNG terminal in the region.
