Bill Would Create Temporary Commission to Examine Broadwater Project

Three New York state legislators have introduced S5894 , a bill that would create a temporary state commission to investigate the fiscal impact of the Broadwater LNG terminal on surrounding communities, including projected additional costs to those communities for law enforcement and emergency responders. Broadwater’s senior vice president responded to the bill in a statement, saying that “[s]afety and security costs will be borne by the project – not local government.” The New York Times provides further information.
