New York Hires Experts to Explore Alternatives to Broadwater Project
Newsday reports that the State of New York has hired outside experts from Battelle Memorial Institute to examine alternatives to the Broadwater LNG proposal, including different sites and other technologies. Among the locations being examined is one 13.5 miles south of Long Beach, N.Y., where the Atlantic Sea Island Group development company has proposed constructing a regasification terminal on a man-made island. Broadwater said in a press statement Friday that they examined and rejected more than 20 different sites in the area and are convinced that the Broadwater site is “the only location to reliably and safely deliver gas to [the New York] market.”
