New Ship Propulsion System Destined for U.S. Ports
Lloyd’s List reports that a new fleet of five membrane-type newbuilds with capacities of 265,000 m3 will employ cryogenic equipment designed by Cryostar, a subsidiary of the Linde Group. These LNG carriers, likely to be used to transport LNG from Qatar to the United States, will utilize a propulsion system that burns both boil-off gas and diesel fuel, a method designed to maximize both deliverable cargo and propulsion efficiency.
