MARAD Friday issued a summary of the comments it received in response to its Request for Comments on using U.S. crew and flags on LNG vessels. The report states that the comments “overwhelmingly supported the utilization of U.S. flag and crews in the transportation of LNG to the Nation’s deepwater port facilities.” The report also expresses MARAD’s intent to continue to encourage public-private partnerships, like MARAD’s partnerships with SUEZ Energy and Excelerate Energy, to work to develop programs to train and employ U.S. mariners on LNG vessels.
