Fall River Officials Continue to Oppose Weaver’s Cove LNG Proposal
The Herald News (Fall River) reports that city officials of Fall River, Mass., announced Thursday that, with the signing of a “public involvement plan” petition by ten city residents, Fall River now may compel Weaver’s Cove developer Hess LNG to hold public hearings and allow the public to review documents related to its clean-up efforts at the proposed terminal site. This action comes after Weaver’s Cove failed to file required documents regarding its discovery of arsenic and beryllium on the site in 2005.
The publication also reports that Fall River officials will oppose the terminal in a First Circuit Court of Appeals hearing scheduled for June 8.
