U.S. House Expands Investigation Into EPA’s Permit for Cabrillo Port
Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) has expanded the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s probe into the Environmental Protection Agency’s reversal of its decision to require stricter air quality standards for BHP Billiton’s proposed Cabrillo Port LNG terminal. According to the committee website, Waxman sent a letter to BHP Billiton CEO Charles Goodyear requesting access to correspondence between the company and the White House and EPA officials. A separate letter asked EPA administrator Stephen Johnson for additional documents regarding the project and requested interviews of five EPA officials by committee staff.
