LNG Bill Stalled in Maryland Senate Committee
The Baltimore Sun reports that a bill to prevent the construction of LNG facilities in environmentally sensitive coastal areas did not leave the state Senate’s Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee before the General Assembly session ended yesterday. A similar bill had been approved by the Maryland House of Delegates in late March. Committee chairperson Sen. Joan Carter Conway (D-Baltimore City) indicated her belief that the state bill would be “redundant,” given the federal review process for LNG facilities.
