Global Warming Enters LNG Debate in California
According to the Ventura County Star, the California Coastal Commission became one of the first state agencies to act under authority of the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 when it cited greenhouse gas emissions as one of several grounds for rejecting the Cabrillo Port LNG terminal. “In the future, I believe every environmental impact statement with LNG or any energy source…must deal with total greenhouse gas emissions, and I believe that current state law requires it,” said Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, a State Lands Commissioner.
