Effects of U.S. Supreme Court Decision Unclear
U.S. Energy Information Administrator Guy Caruso on Friday said any possible effects on the LNG industry of Mass v. EPA, the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision regarding greenhouse gas emissions, are not immediately clear. Citing investor concerns over new coal-based power plants, Caruso suggested that stricter penalties for carbon emissions could benefit LNG importers, but that clean-coal technology or high gas prices could lessen the advantages of LNG.
