California Market More Likely to Support a Swing Facility Rather Than Baseload

World Gas Intelligence reports that pressure from the global LNG market and relatively weak demand for LNG on the U.S. West Coast makes California better suited for a swing facility, such as Woodside’s Oceanway project, as opposed to a baseload facility. An analyst with Wood Mackenzie suggests that the Cabrillo Port LNG project, which appears to be designed as a baseload facility, might even be losing the interest of its developer, BHP Billiton.
