Talks Dormant on Northern Washington Terminal Site

Lummi Indian Business Council vice chairman Willie Jones described the discussions over building an LNG terminal on tribal land at Cherry Point, Wash., as “pretty much dormant at this point.” The Bellingham Herald, however, notes that the northern Washington site may be a natural location for a terminal because existing refineries already handle Alaskan crude oil. Natural gas supply may become available for shipment if a pipeline is constructed bringing gas from Alaska’s North Slope to Valdez.
