New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham said his government’s concerns regarding the proposed Downeast LNG terminal are motivated by safety and environmental issues and not by a commercial interest in the Canaport LNG terminal in St. John, New Brunswick, as alleged by Downeast LNG president Dean Girdis. Graham’s remarks came after a meeting with members of the New England-Canada Business Council in Boston, where he pledged to help New England fulfill its energy demands.
