Canadian Liberal Party Leader Opposes LNG Vessel Transit Through Head Harbor Passage

Stephané Dion, the leader of Canada’s Liberal Party, on Friday declared his opposition to LNG vessels transiting through Head Harbour Passage en route to two proposed terminals in Maine. The executive director of a St. Croix River environmental group heralded Dion’s stance as “huge” because the Liberal Party had not expressed an unequivocal position when it was the dominant party prior to losing the January 2006 election. The Telegraph-Journal provides further coverage.
