BHP Billiton Postpones In-Service Date for Proposed Cabrillo Port LNG Terminal

BHP Billiton no longer plans to start operating its proposed Cabrillo Port LNG terminal in 2010. “By the time that we have all the permits and approvals that we need, it would take about five years so we are looking at first gas around 2012, 2013,” a company spokesperson said. The announcement follows the release of the project’s final environmental impact report, which declared that the terminal presents “significant and unavoidable” adverse effects.  A Dow Jones article, carried via LexisNexis, provides further coverage.
