Trinidad Unable to Supply LNG to Jamaica
Radio Jamaica reports that the Trinidadian government currently cannot honor a memorandum of understanding to supply Jamaica with LNG due to supply constraints. However, Trinidad’s foreign minister said that additional supply may become available in the future if an agreement is reached between Trinidad and Venezuela to apportion offshore natural gas reserves that lie near the two countries. According to The Jamaica Gleaner, Trinidad has said that developing the Loran fields in the waters between Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela could help fulfill its promise to provide Jamaica with 160 ft3 of LNG per day beginning in 2009.
