Maine Governor and New Brunswick Premier Discuss Proposed LNG Vessel Transit in Passamaquoddy Bay

Maine Gov. John Baldacci and New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham yesterday expressed opposing views regarding the introduction of LNG vessels into Passamaquoddy Bay.  “We have major concerns with the passage of tanker traffic through the bay,” Graham said. “But the process will now unfold as it should with both sides being represented and FERC having the final say.”

Gov. Baldacci, who was visiting New Brunswick, said that the Canaport LNG terminal, which is currently under construction in New Brunswick, does not nullify the need for the proposed LNG terminals in Maine. The Telegraph-Journal [subscription required] and a Canadian Press article carried via The Bangor Daily News  have further details.
