Editorial: Trinidadian Prime Minister Should Act Quickly on LNG Deal With Jamaica
The Jamaica Gleaner urges Trinidadian Prime Minister Patrick Manning to act expeditiously on his promise to supply Jamaica with LNG, which is necessary for a major expansion of the Alcoa alumina refinery in Jamaica. In an editorial published today, the newspaper describes the disagreement between the two countries over pricing of LNG and recent doubts regarding Trinidad and Tobago’s ability to supply gas to Jamaica, and says the Alcoa project will be less attractive if it is delayed until alumina refineries in China are fully underway.
