Sen. Lieberman Voices Opposition to Broadwater Project at Sunday’s Protest

Several Connecticut politicians participated in Sunday’s “Brrrrroadwater Polar Plunge,” an event sponsored by Save the Sound, a local activist group that opposes Broadwater Energy’s proposed LNG terminal to be constructed in the Long Island Sound. One local resident was upset by Sen. Joseph Lieberman’s (D-Conn.) appearance at the event, saying that Lieberman’s approval of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 helped hinder efforts to stop the Broadwater project. However, Lieberman says that the Long Island Sound is “the worst place” to build the facility and that Congress may block the proposal. The Stamford Advocate has the story.
