Maine Board of Environmental Protection Given Jurisdiction Over Downeast LNG Environmental Review
The Maine Board of Environmental Protection voted on Thursday to oversee the state environmental review of the proposed Downeast LNG terminal in Maine. Given the scope and magnitude of the Downeast LNG project, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection gave the board jurisdiction over the review process. The BEP is also expected to review Quoddy Bay LNG’s proposed import facility in Maine, once the company submits its applications to the state DEP.
