A documentary set to air tonight at the Public Library in Oxnard, Calif., says damage stemming from a 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, Calif., illustrates how human error can cause significant adverse effects on the environment regardless of assurances given by developers. The video draws a parallel to assurances prior to the 1969 spill and assurances from BHP Billiton regarding its proposed Cabrillo Port LNG terminal. BHP Billiton spokesperson Kathi Hann dismissed the comparison, explaining that, unlike oil, spilled LNG would turn to gas and dissipate into the air. Read more in The Ventura County Star.
