Calhoun LNG Enters MOU With Local Governmental Agencies
Calhoun LNG has entered into agreements with Calhoun County governmental entities regarding taxes on the company’s proposed LNG terminal at Point Comfort, Texas. According to Calhoun County Port Authority’s port director, Calhoun LNG’s memoranda of understanding with the Calhoun County Commissioners Court and Calhoun County Independent School District express the LNG developer’s “commitment to payment of taxes, even if the LNG re-gasification terminal transaction is structured in a tax exempt ownership.” The issue stems from the possibility that the terminal might be owned by the Calhoun County Port Authority and leased back to Calhoun LNG. The Port Lavaca Wave has further details.
