Additional Hearings Requested on Broadwater Project
Newsday reports that federal officials may consider holding additional hearings on the proposed Broadwater LNG terminal due to the number of interested parties who attended FERC’s public hearings earlier this month to discuss the project’s draft environmental impact statement. Among those requesting additional hearings was U.S. Rep. Timothy Bishop (D-N.Y.). “Given the extent of the Broadwater proposal and the significance to the area, I believe additional public hearings are necessary to insure the public have every opportunity made available to them to express their views,” Bishop said in a Jan. 12 letter to FERC. The letter may be found in the FERC e-Library in Docket No. CP06-54.
