Romney’s Decision May Diminish the Need for Other Massachusetts LNG Projects
Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s decision to approve two offshore LNG terminals may scuttle plans to develop the Weaver’s Cove LNG terminal in Fall River, Mass. and the Battery Rock LNG terminal proposed for Outer Brewster Island, according to state Sen. Michael Morrissey (D-Quincy). Also, officials in Romney’s administration say that the offshore facilities may help reduce the state’s dependence on the land-based Distrigas LNG terminal, which some argue poses a safety threat to residents of the Boston area. The Patriot Ledger has the story.
