Offshore Massachusetts Terminals Obtain Governor’s Approval
Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney announced his approval today of Excelerate Energy’s Northeast Gateway LNG terminal and Suez Energy’s Neptune LNG terminal, both proposed offshore Massachusetts. “These new terminals will allow us to safely expand gas supply without undue harm to the environment or to the fishing industry,” Romney said in a press release. According to the Boston Globe, final decisions by the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) on both projects are expected by mid-February. Excelerate expects to have Northeast Gateway operating by December 2007, and Suez anticipates Neptune coming on line by December 2009.
