New York Farmers Oppose Proposed Broadwater Terminal
The Farm Bureau offices in New York State voted last week to oppose Broadwater Energy’s proposed LNG terminal in Long Island Sound. “There’s consensus among farmers on the impact on the commercial fishing industry and also concern about industrializing the Sound,” said Joe Gergela, executive director of the Long Island Farm Bureau. In response, Broadwater’s senior vice president said that the terminal’s proposed location was selected after having “discussions with the fishing industry.” The Riverhead News-Review has the story.
