Connecticut Governor Seeks Greater Say in Broadwater Approval Process
Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell Friday indicated that she would like Congress to “reconstitute” FERC. Encouraging Congress to change the makeup of the Commission, Gov. Rell expressed concern that her state will have no influence in the regulatory review process for Broadwater Energy’s proposed LNG terminal in Long Island Sound. The New Haven Register notes that while the terminal would be built in New York waters, the security zone around the facility would include Connecticut waters. FERC spokesperson Bryan Lee said, “Connecticut has a role in this and we will encourage Connecticut’s participation to the extent the law allows.”
