U.S. Natural Gas Industry Addresses Gas Quality Issues
Tuesday’s edition of Platts LNG Daily offers coverage of the Second Annual Platts Gas Quality and Interchangeability Forum held in Houston. Speaking at the conference, Robert Wilson, director of environmental operations at KeySpan Energy, discussed ongoing research into the impact of gas composition on elastomer seals in distribution pipelines, which is being conducted by NYSEARCH and funded by several Northeast LDCs. Wilson noted the first phase of the research likely will be completed by the end of this year. Sarah Dietrich, senior attorney for NiSource, emphasized the progress made in resolving gas quality disputes. “It’s not exactly a love fest this year, but it’s a lot better than last year when there was a real ‘us versus them’ attitude.” [Subscription required]
