Jamaica Considers LNG Barge to Aid Industrial Development
Jamaica is considering leasing a “floating storage and regasification plant” that would receive LNG until an onshore terminal could be built. Foreign Minister and former Energy Minister Anthony Hylton is looking to LNG imports to encourage industrial investment and switch industry and power generators from oil to gas, but an onshore terminal would not be completed by the 2009 deadline for these efforts.
