Government Explains Documents Withheld in Quoddy Bay Lawsuit
The Bangor Daily News reports that government attorneys have filed an explanation in U.S. District Court for refusing to disclose certain documents requested under the Freedom of Information Act by opponents of the proposed Quoddy Bay LNG terminal. According to the filing, “Release of [these] materials would have an adverse effect on the [Department of the Interior’s] and [Bureau of Indian Affairs’] deliberative process by chilling the free flow of opinion that is necessary to develop policy, and it could confuse the public by revealing opinions that were not adopted by the [government].”
