Expansion of Panama Canal May Spur Increased LNG Trade
The LNG industry could benefit from the expansion of the Panama Canal, according to this week’s edition of World Gas Intelligence. Once the $5.23 billion expansion is complete around 2014, the waterway will accommodate post-Panamax vessels, opening new routes to LNG markets. “Some companies have already started to include an expanded Canal in their calculations,” a spokesperson for the Panama Canal Port Authority said.
