USCG to Hold Public Hearings on Vessel Transit in Narragansett Bay

The U.S. Coast Guard has scheduled public hearings on its proposal to revise the current navigation safety measures in Narragansett Bay, Mount Hope Bay, and the Providence River. The proposal includes consideration of maneuvering large vessels, including LNG tankers bound for the proposed Weaver’s Cove terminal, past the old and new Brightman Street bridges. According to today’s Federal Register, the meetings will be held on Oct. 16 in Fall River, Mass. and on Oct. 19 in Warwick, R.I. In addition, the USCG has re-opened the public comment period for the proposal; comments are due by Nov. 1.
