The president of the California Public Utilities Commission, Michael R. Peevey, challenges a statement in a Los Angeles Times article that the Commission’s recent order establishing natural gas quality standards for investor-owned utilities relaxes current gas composition specifications. Peevey clarifies that the order permits a maximum Wobbe Index level of 1385 for gas, a benchmark more stringent than the current one. The op-ed may be found in The Los Angeles Times.
