The Dundalk Eagle reports that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in a letter dated Sept. 18 informed the Maryland Department of the Environment’s Waste Management Administration that the proposed location for AES’ Sparrows Point Shipyard is not a Superfund cleanup site. “Being a ‘Superfund’ site would have created more hoops for [AES] to jump through,” said Russell Donnelly, the environmental expert for the LNG Opposition Team, a local organization protesting the proposal.
