Area Residents Discuss Jordan Cove LNG Proposal
The World reports on a public hearing held last Wednesday to discuss Jordan Cove Energy’s LNG terminal proposed for Coos Bay, Ore. Opponents of the project noted that the terminal raises safety and environmental concerns and remained skeptical that the project would create new jobs in the region. Other attendees argued that the United States has enough natural gas supply to obviate the need for foreign LNG. However, project supporters, such as the port executive director for Oregon International Port of Coos Bay, said that LNG vessels would help provide enough shipments necessary for the port to receive federal funding.
