Proposed Legislation Calls for List of LNG Lobbyists

U.S. Rep. C. A. “Dutch” Ruppersberger (D-Md.) has introduced legislation that would require FERC to keep a public database of lobbyists hired by LNG terminal developers. According to a statement issued yesterday by Ruppersberger’s office, the bill is in response to allegations made by several residents that AES, the company proposing the Sparrows Point LNG terminal near Baltimore, is paying people to write letters to local newspapers in support of the project. However, an AES spokesperson told The Baltimore Sun, “We do not, will not and have not hired people to write letters on our behalf.”
