Opposition Confers on Strategy to Defeat Broadwater
Representatives from Connecticut’s congressional delegation as well as from the offices of several state legislators met on August 15, 2006, with Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and Save the Sound to discuss Broadwater Energy’s plan to construct an LNG terminal in Long Island Sound. The meeting, held at the New Haven office of U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), was convened to develop a strategy for legislators and public interest groups that oppose the Broadwater project. Attorney General Blumenthal noted that “[o]f the scores of new liquefied natural gas facilities proposed in the United States, this one provides the least benefit compared to the harm it will do.” The Westport News has the story.
