Maine Gubernatorial Candidates Discuss LNG
A forum convened at the University of Maine at Machias afforded three gubernatorial candidates the opportunity to express their views on LNG terminal development in the state. While Republican Chandler Woodcock generally supports LNG development, Independent Barbara Merrill favors more state control over the siting of LNG facilities. Only Green Independent Pat LaMarche expressed complete opposition to LNG, arguing that it is not the answer to Maine’s energy problems. According to the forum host, Democratic Governor John Baldacci did not participate due to a scheduling conflict. The Bangor Daily News has the story.
