KeySpan Reports Security Breach at LNG Storage Facility
KeySpan Corp. on Monday reported a security breach at its LNG storage facility in Lynn, Mass. The breach occurred August 16 when two people cut a fence and scaled the storage tank; Massachusetts state officials expressed alarm over the five-day delay in reporting the incident. “That’s less than ideal, that kind of reporting turnaround,” said Mike Coehlo, chief of staff at the state Executive Office of Public Safety. U.S. Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) called for “a comprehensive review of the perimeter security plans at all such critical infrastructure facilities in the Commonwealth.” The Associated Press article is carried via today’s Boston Globe.
