Watchdog Group Seeks Investigation into Maryland Gov. Ehrlich’s Attorney

Common Cause Maryland, an organization that oversees campaign finance activities, is calling for an investigation into the work of Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.’s personal lawyer, who has been accused of violating state ethics laws in connection with the Sparrows Point LNG terminal proposed by AES Corp. On Friday, the organization filed a complaint with the state ethics commission alleging that David Hamilton was improperly securing funds on behalf of Barletta Willis, which owns the site where AES plans to build its terminal. The LNG Opposition Group, a local activist group also opposed to the project, filed a complaint with the commission in May protesting Hamilton’s involvement in the matter.
