KeySpan LNG Storage Facility Not in Danger From Nearby Fire
A lightning strike in Providence, Rhode Island caused gasoline explosions on the property of Motiva Enterprise’s petroleum storage tank farm. The resulting fire occurred on a pier less than a 1,000 feet away from the existing KeySpan LNG peak shaving storage tank. However, according to Assistant Providence Fire Chief Mark Pare, the LNG storage facility was “not in danger,” and local firefighters were not required to take any action to protect the LNG tank. The Providence Journal has the story.
