Critics Demand Formal Stance Regarding Jordan Cove LNG Project
Opponents of the proposed Jordan Cove LNG terminal in Coos Bay, Ore., have asked the North Bend City Council to articulate a stance on the project. During Tuesday night’s meeting, some attendees expressed skepticism over reports that the proposed Pacific Connector pipeline for the terminal will be rerouted to avoid residential areas in Glasgow, Ore., noting that “nothing is in writing.” Mayor Rick Wetherell recommended that the council issue two separate stances – one regarding the proposed pipeline route and another concerning the overall project. He also acknowledged the community’s concerns about the project’s potential impacts, but said the councilors need “a lot more essential information that’s not there” to state a formal position.
