Permanent Security Zone Under Consideration for Elba Island Terminal

The Savannah Morning News reports that deliveries were temporarily suspended at the Elba Island LNG terminal so that a security inspection could be performed after a sailboat docked there overnight. A port security official for the U.S. Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Office in Savannah, Ga. said “there were no violations” because the waterway near the terminal is not a restricted area, but the incident has prompted USCG officials to consider establishing a permanent security zone around the terminal.
