FERC Nominee Urges Diversity of Natural Gas Supply
At a confirmation hearing before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee yesterday, FERC nominee Mark Spitzer said the United States should be careful not to place too much reliance on imported LNG and should develop diverse natural gas supplysources. “My experiences in Arizona suggested that LNG can be problematic,” Spitzer said, adding that the region was “without supply” when cargos destined for U.S. terminals were unexpectedly diverted to European markets.
