FERC Hears Comments on LNG Terminals Proposed for Pascagoula, Miss.
FERC officials last night held a meeting to solicit community input on the draft Environmental Impact Statements for Chevron’s Casotte Landing LNG terminal and Gulf LNG’s Clean Energy Project, both of which are proposed for Pascagoula, Miss. Chevron’s vice president of global gas, Richard Lammons, discussed the benefits of the Cassotte Landing project, such as new jobs and additional natural gas supply to the region. However, one of the four citizens offering comments at themeeting said the proposals would negatively affect the environment. FERC Staff’s DEISs conclude that both projects would create “limited adverse impacts” on the environment if the prescribed mitigation measures are followed. Today’s Sun Herald provides local coverage of the hearing.
