ConocoPhillips to Take Equity Stake in Golden Pass Terminal
ConocoPhillips will join ExxonMobil and Qatar Petroleum as a shareholder in the proposed Golden Pass LNG terminal in Sabine, Texas, a move which will allow Qatar Petroleum to take advantage of higher gas prices near the Texas-Louisiana border rather than sending future supplies to ConocoPhillips’ Freeport terminal. As a result, Golden Pass, originally slated to open in 2008 with 1 Bcf/d capacity, is now expected to commence service in 2009 with 2 Bcf/d of capacity. Platt’s LNG Daily has the story.
